Every farm has that one invention that would make absolutely no sense to anyone else... and yet it quietly becomes indispensable.

For years I've been searching for the perfect way to haul dirty bedding out of the barn.

Basic wheelbarrow? 5/10.

Beautiful wooden wheelbarrow with bicycle wheels? 4/10.

My blue electric dump cart? 7/10... until the steel mesh sides rusted completely away.

Then Rutherford gave me a wonderful John Deere trailer for Christmas. It was beautifully made, but I quickly realized the sloped rear made it awkward to empty bedding. 3/10.

One day Perry (Triple P to our regular readers) said, "I've been thinking about your cart.."

His plan was simple.

We rolled out the grinder and cut the entire sloped back off the John Deere tub so it had a straight rear opening. Perry built a proper dump tailgate, then we lifted the green tub completely off its original trailer frame.

Since the sides on my old blue electric cart had long since rusted away, we bolted the John Deere tub onto its powered chassis instead. A handful of bolts, some toilet bowl washers 😂 to keep everything snug, and somehow this completely unplanned marriage of two carts became one perfect machine.

And you know what?

IT'S PERFECT!!!

It turns on a dime, dumps exactly the way I'd hoped, hauls a mountain of dirty bedding, and has become my favorite piece of equipment in the barn.

Sometimes the best farm equipment isn't bought.

It's built by people who refuse to throw away a good idea.
