Meet Kindred Ambassador: Emma Barrett

Meet Kindred Ambassador: Emma Barrett
What’s your name and where do you call home?

My name is Emma and I live on Maui in Hawaii.

Tell us about yourself.

There is nothing I love more than spending a day in nature: waking up, going surfing and then spending the day hiking in a rainforest.

Why did you start using organic skincare?

I have always been rather obsessed with skincare rituals. Having a bathroom full of lotions and potions, the smells, textures, and promises. But as I grew more interested in what would improve my skin, I realized that what was marketed as “natural” was far from it. I was basically slathering petrochemicals and man-made fragrances on my skin. Now, having a 14-year-old daughter, it is vital for me to teach her how to read labels, and how to not get sucked into the toxic “beauty business.”

How did you discover Kindred Skincare Co. and why do you like it?

I was introduced to Kindred Skincare by a friend who’s mum had been having fantastic healing skin results from using the Kindred protocols. I loved the ingredient list and the company story so we ordered a Kindred box of goodies and dug in. The Oil Cleansers are amazing. I like to massage my face when I wake up to get the blood flowing and lymph draining. Sometimes I let it soak in while I drive to the beach and then apply the Premiere Defense stick over the top. The Morning oil is another favorite to massage pre-yoga or hike as a primer to the sunscreen. As a family that spends a great deal of time outside and go through a ludicrous amount of sunscreen. The Bâton de Soleil has amazing staying power, keeping our skin protected and nourished, and of course, it’s reef safe. The Baton de Couleur in d’Or is super pretty on arms and legs for some shimmer.

What are some skin issues that concern you?

As a family that spends a great deal of time outside and go through a ludicrous amount of sunscreen.

If you can pick just one, which Kindred product is your fav (so far!)?

It’s hard to pick one favorite, but I do love the La Femme body oil. It smells delicately delicious and leaves a pretty sheen on my skin.

What changes in your skin have you noticed since starting Kindred?

I have pretty dry skin, since using Kindred I notice that my skin stays super hydrated, which means I see a reduction in the fine lines and crepey skin.

Why do you want to be a Kindred Ambassador?

Being a Kindred Ambassador is a fantastic way for me to teach the powers of plant-based skincare.

If you could gift Kindred’s skincare line to one person, who would it be?

If I could gift Kindred to anybody, I would choose a friend of my daughter who is 10 years old. She has eczema, so to teach her how to use the power of oils to prevent flare-ups and keep her skin comfortable.
